My favorite historical figure is Jackie Robinson because of the impact he had on the sporting world. My favorite historical event is the Civil War because it was the beginning of the New America. The first thing that pops into my head when I think of the word history is the past. Even though history is being recorded right now, the only history we study are events that have happened in the past.

ReplyDeleteThe historical event that I find the most interesting is the pioneer age in US history. I think that it is amazing what those people went through in order to give us what we have today.
Ok don't laugh, but when I hear the word "history" I think of white parliamentary wigs and puffy collars.
The best thing that has happened to me this new year was a church retreat that I went to over Christmas break. It was a wonderful start to the year!

Honestly, the first word that comes into my head when I hear the word history is boring. But having you as a teacher has changed that! I'm actually kind've interested in it now! You make it exciting to learn about. I also like how our tests come straight from our head. It's like we're writing a story book. Now it's actually fun learning history.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing that's happened to me in this new year is getting an apartment with my best friend, and being able to balance school and work. Also I've been going to the wellness center often and eating right, so it's been a good year so far.

ReplyDeleteThe first thing that comes to mind when I think of the word history is a story. One of my past history teachers told me history has the word "story" in it for a reason, and that reason is to tell a story about something that has happened in the past.
ReplyDeleteA few historical events that I find most interesting are World War II and the Civil rights movement. I think mostly because I like to watch movies that are related to them but I also like learning about those events. It's all very interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that comes into my head when I hear the word history is a big history book to read out of filled with a lot of dates and a lot events and all the presidents that were in the past.
The best thing that has happened to me this year was that I transferred from a community college to a university to start my classes that are related to my major! I also go to spend a very freezing New Years with my boyfriend in the city of Chicago!

I think my favorite historical figure is Cleopatra. She was loved and admired by many. To me she is so interesting and has so much depth to her.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of the word history I think of my high school history teacher Mrs. Kulesa. She helped me discover my love for history and I will be forever grateful to her for that.
The best thing that has happen to me this new year, is that I got to watch all the Harry Potter movies in one day with my friends.

My favorite historical event would be either the Renaissance era due to the revolutionary ways of thinking about the world, or the cold war era in the United States for the great innovations and advancements made for the sake of bettering ourselves.

The best thing that has happened to me this new year, is that I came back to school.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word history would have to be dates, places, and events. A historical figure that I find to be the most interesting is Amelia Earhart. A historical event that I am very interested in is Pearl Harbor. The best thing that has happened to me this new year was being able to spend time with my family over Christmas break.

I think of dates and places all over the world where history has been created but being the art major I am, I think of old art work the most. I find it interesting how it was created, and where it came from and the stories behind it.

The best thing that has happened to myself so far this year, is getting to see family over break and starting another semester of school.
When I hear the word history, the first thing that comes to my mind is dates, times, and names that I can never remember! It is kind of overwhelming for me because I have such a hard time recalling these events. One of the most interesting events in history for myself is the Holocaust. Anne Frank made it possible for people to know what it was like to be hiding away during this time. It is terrible what the people had to go through, but it is very interesting to learn about what and how these things occurred.

ReplyDeleteWhen I think of the word history the first thing that comes to mind is a timeline of America's history.
ReplyDeleteThe most historical event/figure that I find the most interesting is what are called HeLa cells taken back in the 50's, if I recall right, without permission from a black woman called Henrietta Lacks. These cells are the cells from the cancer she had in her cervix. They are still dividing to this day and are largely responsible for numerous advancements in medicine such as better, more efficient treatments for cancer and the polio vaccine.
The best thing that has happened to me so far in this new year is time management. I think I am finally getting the hang of staying on top of things and not procrastinating.

ReplyDeleteColumbus sailed the ocean blue. I don't know why but that's always the first thing that I think of. It is funny because that is pretty much the only date of all the dates to remember that is the one date I have always remembered...

The first thing that comes to mind when i heart the word history is the past, the movies, and achievements. I really like the old documentaries that provide these sources for me. Surprising i find them really interesting.
The best thing that happened to me so far was coming to Northern. I am so excited to finish this year with a bang!
